Huddle Learning Systems – Our Story
Huddle Learning Systems was established in Melbourne, Australia in 2015. For almost 10 years now, Huddle has been supporting schools and school systems around the world to make visible and enhance the positive impact of leaders within their school. Underpinned by an outstanding understanding of school culture, function and professional capability, Huddle have been helping schools, networks and systems to refine and baluster their strategic improvement activity. At Huddle, we pride ourselves on our proven track record on building outstanding personalised relationships with our learning partners – relationships predicated on trust and respect. All our work is fully customised through a tried and tested co-design process where we work and learn alongside our clients to ensure that their needs and expectations are met and then exceeded.
Our mantra is ‘Privilege the Practice’. We hold a passionate belief that for school systems to be truly highly-effective, that they must privilege, preference and promote the expert knowledge of educators and school leadership above all else.
Andrew Jones – Biography
Huddle Learning System Director and Founder, Andrew Jones is an expert in learning design and educator professional development. Andrew has been working in schools in a range of school settings as a teacher, principal and leadership coach for almost 30 years. In 2009 he led the closure and regeneration of four failing schools in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and he has a Masters Research Degree in Learning Leadership. Andrew now consults regularly with practitioners, researchers and policy makers across Australia and New Zealand as well as in the Pacific Islands, Europe, United States and Canada.
His research work at the University of Melbourne was focused in the area of School Learning Culture and Teacher Learning under the expert tutelage of Professor John Hattie. AJ’s work with government has been focused predominantly in the domains of Teacher, Middle and Principal Leadership. The Learning Specialist Clarity Conference Series, MYLNS Understanding the Learner Workshop Program and; the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leaderships, ‘Innovating for Student Engagement’ pilot professional learning program are fine examples of his work with the Department of Education in Victoria.
Recently, Andrew commenced work directly with the Ministry of Education in New Zealand where he is designing and delivering professional learning to Senior Ministerial staff at the regional level in the field of Observable Impact and Evidence-informed Practice. In 2021, he also began working with the Queensland Education Leadership Institute (QELi) in the area of Mindful Leadership. Previous work with the coaching departments with various AFL Football Clubs, his role as Principal in Residence in the Australian Research Council’s Science of Learning Research Centre (University of Melbourne) and as education advisor at Smiling Mind, have all helped to create a highly unique skill set relevant for a range of developmental contexts. Andrew was also founding Board Member of Australian Schools Plus.
Andrew provides ongoing individual professional support to Huddle partner schools across Victoria and New Zealand where he serves as a Challenge Partner, Strategic Consultant and Middle-Level Leadership Coach.
